Palisades Hike on June 28 2014

As part of the preparations for scout camp we invited the scouts to hike to lower palisades lake.  We made it to the lake early that morning and so we went past the lower lake almost to the upper lake (1 mi from it).  It was a lot of fun.   In all we made 12 miles round trip.  The boys found some stinging nettle and tried to catch the ground squirrels that live near the lake.  TJ even got nibbled on by a chipmunk.  Careful they bite!  We were able to make it home in time to get a root beer float.  We were all pretty sore the next day but it proved to be good preparation for our hike up table rock.

Austin had the only hot meal that day.  Way to go Austin! Nice job!

Pringles are the food of all real hikers according to Bridger :)

I think this is the only time I have ever seen Alex sit still.  I had to capture it for his mom and dad so they could witness this miracle too :).    Too bad he was sick that day.  He was so pumped up for the hike that he did it in spite of being pretty sick.  Now if that's not a true scout I don't know what is.  Nice job Alex.

Beautiful blue skies made for a totally sweet hiking day.
